June 30, 2017: My first comparison to Sally Mann came while I was in college, and they haven't stopped; I wonder about this in a different way as I become increasingly surrounded by mothers. Mann is a mother we don't even have a word for, having lost a child - I chose today, the anniversary of a love's suicide, when I always reach out to his parents, to write to her.
